A resume is a formal document that is a list of a person's qualifications including education, work experience, extracurricular activities, awards and achievements, volunteer experience, skills, certificates, etc. You will use this for almost all job applications, some scholarship applications, and some college applications.

A Cover Letter allows employers to get to you know a bit more when applying to a position. It is a place to demonstrate your qualifications for the job in written form and for the employer to get to know a bit more about the most important aspects on your resume.

A letter that someone writes about you to showcase how you are as a student, employee, and/or person. Some colleges/universities, some scholarships, and some employers require a letter or two for applications and prefer a teacher who knows you fairly well. Our BHS Common Scholarship application requires two letters of recommendation.
Letters can be from teachers, coaches, employers, club advisors, school counselors, principals, etc. Competitive colleges usually prefer a core (English, Math, Science, Social Studies) teacher to write a letter.
